Dubravko Culibrk

Brief Biography

I was born on October 23rd 1976 in, what I consider to be a beautiful town of Novi Sad in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. After four great years in what is certainly the most "Hogwarts-like" high-school in my hometown (Gimnazija "Jovan JOvanovic Zmaj"), I got my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineerung and my M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Novi Sad in 2000 and 2003.

While working on my M.Sc., I was affiliated with the Chair for Computer Engineering as a Research/Teaching Assistant and its spin-off institute MicronasNIT. I mostly worked on commercial projects for various international customers. The focus was primarily on DSP firmware development and C compiler design and development. My Master Thesis dealt with a tool for automatic assembly code optimization and involved genetic algorithms (just to make things a little interesting).

In 2003 I enrolled in a PhD program at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, USA. At FAU I have been primarily engaged in research into video object segmentation and cryptography and security. I got my PhD on August 11, 2006.

Since October 2007 I have taken a teaching post (lecturer) at the Univeristy of Novi Sad, Serbia and have been doing research there.
